All About KWSED

Special education services have been offered to students in member districts since the 1930's.  During the 1968-69 school year, an agreement was signed creating the Knox-Warren Special Education District. The purpose was to provide special education services to all eligible students in the two counties.  At that time, a Director was hired and staff was obtained with contractual arrangements being made through Galesburg #205 as the administrative district.

KWSED Philosophy

It is the position of the KWSED that school based services to students should be delivered from a collaborative problem solving model within the regular classroom for all students with special needs.  By implementing such an approach, it is our hope that service options can be expanded for all students within the least restrictive educational settings.
